Nurture vs Nature, Choice vs Genetics - it doesn't really matter.
The issue at hand is who are you to tell consenting adults (who bring no harm to you or anyone else) what they can and can't do.
Pardon me for my lewdness, but if I want to go home and have sex with a man who consents, so what? If I want to go home and have anal sex with a woman, or engage in oral sex, so what? If I want to have sex with a busty blonde or watch porn about a busty blonde and masturbate, so what? If I want to have two wives, so what? If my wife wants to have 3 husbands, so what? If we want a family unit of 3 husbands and 2 wives, so what?
People have always wanted to infringe upon the liberties of others to restrict things they see as hazardous. I am in support of gay rights and gay marriages (and bi-sexual rights, and multiple partner marriages), but in voicing those views I have receives some sick letters about how gays are perverts that go around raping little boys. No, they are not - and if they were, we already have laws about that. We also have laws about age of consent. Violate those and there are criminal laws that come into place. Make arbitrary restrictions about what consenting adults can do (such as men can only engage in sexual relations with busty blondes or they are considered "diseased") is just ridiculous.
I am against censorship, and as such do not own Apple products. However, since they established themselves as censors who have the moral high ground, I did sign the petition against the app on the grounds that this is a form of hate speech. What is a cure used for? A disease or infection, something that is unwanted - therefore they are equating someone's sexuality with being diseased (much as Hitler did when he decided to sterilize and gas them along with the disabled and the Jews). Ironic considering I'm all for decriminalizing hate speech (freedom of expression) since there are other laws that cover punishments when you act upon that speech - and personally I'd rather know which idiots in my neighborhood think homosexuals and non-Whites should be stripped of their basic human rights.
Oh yeah, to those who talk about the "gays sticking together to terrorize the moral Christians of the world" - sorry, I'm heterosexual and happily married. My wife is Christian, and she has no problem with same sex partners being legally allowed. I think we represent a slight majority of population in the US. However, it is not the majority status that matters. It is simply the fact of who are you to dictate to two or more consenting adults what they can or can't do in the privacy of their own homes - and who are you to say they are sick because of their sexual identity. Homosexuality is not cancer (I have never heard of a single case of someone dying because they were gay), and it is not transmittable (no one has ever "turned gay" when using the same drinking fountain, sitting on the same toilet, or shaking hands with a homosexual). If it is a choice, then it is no different than choosing to be Christian and engage in heterosexual post-marital sex (you did wait until you got married, right?) or wearing a blue shirt instead of a red one.
