Funny how all these atheists run around slinging vile insults. Typical.

On topic, I wonder if Apple would pull an app showing how to BE gay. I doubt it.

What a preposterous notion.

You can't 'cure' yourself of being gay any more than you can stop the sun rising in the morning and setting in the evening.

Like I said earlier, Every time that someone brings out the homosexuality and religious issues out it always causes a turd-storm-tossing to the big-ass fan (courtesy of Mythbusters). As long as people allow to believe in a screwed up religion (don't care which one) they will always be a group a manipulating douche-bags to scramble their brains out. Believe in god is one thing but believing in a religion is another, it is the mis-interpretation of the faith that makes people to cast a witch hunt or suiciding "martyrs" around the world.

They wouldn't be getting this flack if they would just have said from the beginning that 100% of all applications would be approved. Now when they miss one they get shit for it. Although how can you miss an application call gay cure. With a name like that it's garenteed to offend. I'm sorry but there is no religious book that will make a man want women instead of men. (I'm not gay and I have no gay friends but..) I think you just are when you are. Some guys are boarderline gay like my brother-in-law and some people like myself are "raging heterosexuals". I love to love the ladies! There is no book that I could ever read that would convince me that I need to love men. Think about it that way and it will help you understand how it must feel to be gay and be told that religion can heal you.

Whether I like or dislike the app - I'm concerned about the censorship of ideas that the majority "group" disagrees with. As we mature we should move to a point that we realize that it's not what you say or do that is the primary focal point - it's the motive behind what is said or done. If the motive is bad, that is, done with evil intent or hatred, - then it's ok to take offense. I hardly think the app was made with anything but good intent - I believe it's misguided but, nothing to take offense about. This comment is made by a Messianic Jew, who happens to be gay.

You're assuming a stance of superiority. However one of your religious brethren threw the first insult. Check the first comment.

[citation][nom]dogman_1234[/nom] I can understand having an app to teach people that homosexuality is wrong[/citation]
^ Implying being gay is wrong. However......

[citation][nom]dogman_1234[/nom]Rather that Christ died for them and that he loves anyone. It is the person he loves, not what they do.[/citation]
Zomg Christ loves dudes, he must be gay! But you said being gay is wrong yet you main dude bar one is of the homosexual variety. Hmmmmmmmm.......... Also, if God made man in his image, surely that means God is double gender? How else would there be 2 genders? And who are your so called gods parents? A lot of people seem to do things in his name. I'd like to meet them and have a word about his tomfoolery.

Also, religious people always make me laugh. Thank you for that, religious people. Especially those of the hardcore variety. They know how to have fun.

Whoa, talk about a one sided article! Lets be fair here Tom's.

Here is what the App-developer actually said the intent of the app is:

“In no way shape or form is our message about trying to cure or do we try to promote that type of methodology or message,” Jeff Buchanan, Exodus International’s Senior Director of Church Equipping & Student Ministries, told The Christian Post.

“This is a label (gay cure app) that has been put forth by opponents to the application to serve as propaganda in order to stigmatize and really label the application in a false way and provoking a response such as you are seeing with the application.”

On Monday Buchanan said that the app is far less controversial than Besen claims. “It’s being touted as a gay cure app, and nothing could be further from the truth,” he said. “We present a redemptive, Biblical world view on sexuality … it’s a message of love and acceptance of those that are struggling with same-sex attraction....”

So NOW lets talk about the article. So is Apple going to pull ALL of its religious based Apps now that its decided to become the 'Politically Correct Religion' police? Probably not. I bet the Koran App aint going nowhere.

Not surprised tho. Jesus said this would happen. "... And you shall be hated of all men for my name's sake." Luke 21:17

Nurture vs Nature, Choice vs Genetics - it doesn't really matter.

The issue at hand is who are you to tell consenting adults (who bring no harm to you or anyone else) what they can and can't do.

Pardon me for my lewdness, but if I want to go home and have sex with a man who consents, so what? If I want to go home and have anal sex with a woman, or engage in oral sex, so what? If I want to have sex with a busty blonde or watch porn about a busty blonde and masturbate, so what? If I want to have two wives, so what? If my wife wants to have 3 husbands, so what? If we want a family unit of 3 husbands and 2 wives, so what?

People have always wanted to infringe upon the liberties of others to restrict things they see as hazardous. I am in support of gay rights and gay marriages (and bi-sexual rights, and multiple partner marriages), but in voicing those views I have receives some sick letters about how gays are perverts that go around raping little boys. No, they are not - and if they were, we already have laws about that. We also have laws about age of consent. Violate those and there are criminal laws that come into place. Make arbitrary restrictions about what consenting adults can do (such as men can only engage in sexual relations with busty blondes or they are considered "diseased") is just ridiculous.

I am against censorship, and as such do not own Apple products. However, since they established themselves as censors who have the moral high ground, I did sign the petition against the app on the grounds that this is a form of hate speech. What is a cure used for? A disease or infection, something that is unwanted - therefore they are equating someone's sexuality with being diseased (much as Hitler did when he decided to sterilize and gas them along with the disabled and the Jews). Ironic considering I'm all for decriminalizing hate speech (freedom of expression) since there are other laws that cover punishments when you act upon that speech - and personally I'd rather know which idiots in my neighborhood think homosexuals and non-Whites should be stripped of their basic human rights.

Oh yeah, to those who talk about the "gays sticking together to terrorize the moral Christians of the world" - sorry, I'm heterosexual and happily married. My wife is Christian, and she has no problem with same sex partners being legally allowed. I think we represent a slight majority of population in the US. However, it is not the majority status that matters. It is simply the fact of who are you to dictate to two or more consenting adults what they can or can't do in the privacy of their own homes - and who are you to say they are sick because of their sexual identity. Homosexuality is not cancer (I have never heard of a single case of someone dying because they were gay), and it is not transmittable (no one has ever "turned gay" when using the same drinking fountain, sitting on the same toilet, or shaking hands with a homosexual). If it is a choice, then it is no different than choosing to be Christian and engage in heterosexual post-marital sex (you did wait until you got married, right?) or wearing a blue shirt instead of a red one.

[citation][nom]ProDigit10[/nom]There's so much gay crap in this thread, makes me hate gays even more, with their stupid thinking!Just because you are gay, and someone else is not, and you are accusing us for stating the obvious that nature meant man to be with a woman, does not make us radicalized, but on the contrary, a lot of gays are extremely aggressive against ordinary people who know the truth, and don't really see any reason why to believe in lies like "born this way" "you are anti gay" and stuff! They really don't care the least about gay, in fact it's not even part of their life, and part of their dictionary, aside from a curse word.ALL GAYS SHOULD READ THIS ARTICLE:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-12825688From the BBC news, saying WHY gays are wrong people. They are missing Serotonin in their brains.Other research pointed out it could be because of drinking water polluted by heavy metals. And drinking metal has never been good for mankind! It makes you gay![/citation]
So you hate gays because people dislike homophobia and because they are missing something in their brains?

Probably a lot of off topic things here but there has been a lot of Church hating going on here that needs addressing....

It is sad that there are bad "Christians" out there and it is quite clear that people on here and elsewhere who have been turned away from God have done so because they have been convinced that these bad Christians are actually representative of Christianity and speak on behalf of Christ. Rather than judge the Church on the actions of some of its supposed members i would advise actually trying to understand what the Church is about eg peace, love, forgiveness, preventing atrocities such as killing etc.

Take for example the Catholic priest scandal. The actions of this small minority of priests showed that they were in fact NOT really Catholics as they did not believe in or act according to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Yet so many people condemn the Catholic church because of these bad men because they wrongly consider them to be representative of the Church! All it shows is that men are men whether priests or otherwise and they can commit crimes just like anyone else. These people, just like criminals, will be rooted out and punished accordingly. I would also just like to add that child molestation occurs far more in atheist institutions and non-Catholic ones but any excuse to bash Catholics is okay these days.

Anyway back to what I was saying... even if I as a Christian believe homosexuality is wrong (and this is not being said or discussed by me here as it is besides the point) that does not mean that I judge or condemn them. It does not mean I hate them or want to kill them. It does not mean Jesus hates them. Yes it is the person's choice because God's great gift to us is free will. It is up to that person to decide how it will affect their own soul. That the church cares about everyone's soul is not wrong or evil but it is the Church's mission on earth to help people towards God based on His teachings. It is these bad Christians that try to force or condemn people that is not right. Not religion as a whole.

Faith goes hand in hand with reason. True Christians do not blindly follow but do so because they reason and conscience guides them to do so. For instance take homosexuality. Reason naturally leads one to believe that a man was made to be with a women because their parts NATURALLY fit together! Yes I can stick it elsewhere but I can't make a baby (which is the primary function of the organs in question) and thinking with reason leads me to believe sticking it in another man or in a plastic contraption isn't really what it was meant for. Still if you choose to the the latter two things I am not going to condemn you or hate you. I am not going to try to force you to change. I can still believe it is wrong though.

And finally, all the scientific atheists out there.... a large proportion of scientific discoveries and theories come from Catholics and other Christians. Your precious Big Bang Theory for example. All of which do not go on to disprove God. Science and religion are not at odds with each other either just like reason and faith are not at odds.

[citation][nom]TheCapulet[/nom]I believe your faith or lack of faith is wrong. Philosophically, stating the fact makes you wrong. Theologically, unless you follow a few select off-branch religions, anyone who doesn't agree with you is wrong. So either way, you're wrong.[/citation]
I believe all religions should be banned world-wide...BUT, you just outlined exactly why I hate religions. Every religion essentially says "Either be a sheep in this brainless herd....or you're going to hell!!" Show me in the bible exactly where it says "Homosexuality is a sin". For those that haven't actually read the bible....or those that have been dumb enough to listen to a paster/priest/preacher babble on endlessly on Sunday/Wednesday....the bible does NOT teach you to judge others. The bible does NOT teach you to shove your religion down people's throats. The bible does NOT say what religion is right. What the bible does teach, in fact, is tolerance, understanding, caring and acceptance. The bible also teaches that there is only 1 proper way to worship "the lord", by honoring "him" above all others. My favor line..."Judge not lest ye be judged thyself". For those that don't understand that 1 single, simple line. Don't judge others based on their actions, statements or beliefs for they and you will be judged by the lord on the day of judgement. Sadly, the Christian church as a whole has the absolute worst understanding of the bible....in fact, they seem to bastardize it to suit their own needs.

BTW, contrary to the belief of politicians.....religion has caused more deaths than any other factor....including drugs.

There is nothing wrong with being gay, it is natural, it happens to other special all over the planet. But trying to show through science that you had no choice is B.S. Even if you are genetically pre-dispositioned to be an alcoholic, if you never drink alcohol, then are you still an alcoholic?

Just because you think about sticking your dingaling in another mans mud slide doesn't necessarily make you gay, its acting on those thoughts that do. Hell I think "What would it be like if the Zombie apocalypse was upon us, and I was a survivor." That doesn't mean I’m going to go all sniper rifle on the leno looking guy from the mall's roof, it’s only a thought.

Everyone has strange thoughts, call it the devil, call it imagination, call it whatever you want. Acting on the thought is a choice, having the thought is not. Choosing to stick it to another guy makes you gay, not thinking about it. If two consenting adults want to stick roman candles up each others asses while getting a reach around then shoot them at each other that’s fine, but it is a choice they make. Choosing to believe you have no choice makes you a sheep. Educate yourself and rise above the flock, become an individual, make choices for yourself and accept the consequences.

"I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road." - Stephen Hawking

sykozis: Every religion essentially says "Either be a sheep in this brainless herd....or you're going to hell!!"

No that is simply not true. You'll find that that is only true with some baptists groups and also some people who do not understand properly the religions they belong to. No true Christian (or any other faith eg Muslim) judges anyone on whether they will go to hell or not. That is left up to God.

Also why do you think that religion is brainless? Maybe some people you know act brainless with religion but that is a reflection on the people you are seeing not religion. You'll find some of the most intelligent people today and throughout time were extremely religious.

This app is a thinly veiled hatecrime. And its haters like exodus international that give christianity a bad name. Christians are the peoplr who stop and help you if you have trouble. Christians are the guy spotting a stranger a fiver to get some gas. Not these haters. Its all love peace and goodwill to your fellow man once you hack out all the stuff about the devil and going to hell. 8 of the 10 commandments are damn good advice, and we all need to seriously look at the 10 and reflect. Irregaurdless of beleifs.

*inbound trolling*

"Religion is to blame for more deaths than anything"
that could be considered true, untill WW1. Then atheisim got involved and WW2 introduced athiests to the atomic age.

As for the guy saying gays run around raping little boys... those are pedophiles. And most of them are males, seeking underage males. So they are by deffinition homosexual.

That is absolutely ridiculous.

For instance, the "Americans", English, French and Spanish weren't fighting over North America for religion. Nor were the Romans conquering all lands to spread their Gods. The French and English didn't fight the 100 years war for religion either. Most wars were not religion based.

Even most of the religious wars came about because of persecution of Christians (or other religions) not because Christianity actually wanted to kill or were the aggressors (eg the Romans, French revolution, persecution of Catholics in England). Now we wouldn't say fighting for freedom is a crime. Most of the atrocities caused by the crusaders were done by low ranking soldiers who went for fame, glory and riches not because of religious reasons. The crusades also had motives to end persecution of Christian pilgrims and access to the Holy City.

Of course there are also bad things that have happened for religion sake. But just like everything these pale in comparison with non-religious atrocities.

It is really only extremists that kill blindly for "religious" reasons and these are not supported by the religions they claim to be fighting on behalf (eg the IRA, the Muslim jihadists etc).
