I'va been trying to get my mobo to unlock the 4th core on my x3 720 but i'm not too shure if you can unlock a non-BE amd cpu... but when i tryed i would get a black screen and t i would have to resset my bios. does anyone have any info on unlocking this cpu???

Solution
The core is dead/faulty. Some are locked down to meet demand for that part some are locked down as they are faulty. Seems yours is faulty.
I'm pretty sure you can unlock a non-BE CPU, thought it just depends on the CPU if it'll work or not. Maybe you have a CPU that has a dead 4th core? Which is what I'm assuming...since I know there are some CPU's that just refuse to unlock (960T for example, some people may be able to unlock all 6 cores, some may only be able to unlock 5).

But as I said earlier, I'm sure you can unlock Non-BE CPU's, since Athlon II CPU's aren't black edition and are able to unlock.

So is there anything else I can do that might make it work like cpu voltage???, or is it most certainly that i have a dead 4th core?
