ASUS GL551J Broken

Hello, my gaming laptop was updated to the new Windows update that was supposed to fix the ransomware problem from a few weeks ago. A day after I updated, my computer seemed to be working fine, but then my Google Chrome froze while I was watching a video so I decided to restart Chrome, when nothing happened when I restarted. So I then decided to restart my computer and if froze, so I force shut it off. Then when I started it again, the sound icon on the taskbar said that the audio was not working, and I noticed that my internet icon was not even there. So I decided to look at my Windows Defender, and my firewall was off, when I looked just 2 or 3 days earlier, it was on, and I did not turn it off. The firewall would not let me turn it back on, there would be some error that would pop up. So I ran a malware scan, and nothing showed up. I really don't know what happened to my laptop, I haven't been on any fishy sites or downloaded anything fishy.
Any kind of help will help.
Sorry for the lengthy post, I felt the need to put every detail.

Well, you should really run a better antivirus program. Defender doesn't really do that deep of a scan and it is always good to run more than one.

First I would turn off the computer and start it up in "Safe Mode" and see if it loads fine. Many programs don't work in "Safe Mode" as the computer allows only minimum things to run, even minimum graphics, however you can then see if you get any of those same problems. If you don't get them in "Safe Mode" then definitely run deeper virus and malware scans.

In the end, a worse case scenario would be you having to back up all personal items and do a full restore on the computer.
