My Asus 2-in-1 laptop (UX360CAK) has crazy. Whenever I try and boot, It loads straight to what looks like a sign in screen. It shows a blank profile pic Labeled Administrator and says "Preparing Windows". Eventually, It loads to an all black desktop with an error code saying the location for the Desktop in system32 is missing. I cannot do anything once here as the task-bar is unresponsive. I

I have contacted ASUS support to try and find a way into Recovery Mode but we cannot figure it out. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the display normal on the external display? If so the problem could be a loose ribbon cable to the laptop display or a bad laptop display.

If the display is working, you can download the graphics driver (you may have already done this). You can download it here.

The only other thing that I can think of now is to Use Asus Warranty repair / replacement. Or you can replace the parts yourself.

Here is the Asus website to order parts for your laptop.

https://www.asus-accessories.com/laptop/ux360/

For example your motherboard is available.

Then try booting again.

The manual will detail the procedure to clear the CMOS on the laptop.

It can be downloaded here.

If the repair upgrade isn't able to fix the problem, then a fresh install of Windows 10 will. Back up your data from the system drive because it will be formatted during the install (wiping everything).

You may need to back up the data on another system, since you can't access Windows on your system.

Do you have a monitor or TV that you can plug in to the HDMI video port. You should be alright once the drivers are updated. Windows will load a generic graphics driver once it loads.

I have plugged in my external display and updated driver but screen is still black. Oddly, I can see through the external display that my touchscreen is still functioning. I am not afraid to take anything apart so I am capable of most repairs. Any ideas?
