Asus laptop power on problem

Hello, I'm having problems whith my asus z53f laptop.

I push the power on button and the laptop doesn't do nothing.
No lights, no sound, nothing.

The battery and the charger are both ok.
The only way I'm able to power on the laptop again is the next strange procedure:

- I disconnect the charger and I remove the battery.
- I push the power on button around 45-60 seconds.
- I wait for at least 3 hours.
- I insert the battery, or connect the alimentation, or both.
And when I push the power on button. The laptop works again and everything is ok.
No hard disk, hardware, operating system failure or problem.

I search for help during last week, google, forums,etc. But I don't find a good solution (waiting at least 3 hours to power on is not a solution)

Does anyone know which is the reason of that strange behaviour?
Does anyone know a good solution?

Sounds like a no easy fix problem of a bad capacitor somewhere. Anyone with a second thought?

It seems that anyone has a second idea, thought, etc.

I was thinking about the problem.

Some laptops have a feature when you power them off.
The manuals of the laptops said that you must wait few seconds before to power it on again.
We can say that there is a laptop stage "recent power off" in wich you can't power on.

Prehaps my laptop is always in the stage of "recent power off", and only go out that stage when you disconnect the laptop from source and battery, and stay disconnected during hours.

do you think that idea could be reasonable?

Although I am not sure how exactly the signaling works on a laptop power button, it is an acpi power button. Now you mentioned it, it is possible that the power button is dying.

This is not a mechanical problem.
The power on button is ok. I'm quite sure about that.

I read a lot of messages, and I searched on a lot of forums about laptop start up problems. And I found problems that sounds like this problem.

The brand is not important, you can see toshiba, acer, hp, etc. start up problems.
All of them sound like a strange behaviour of the laptop to power on.

I think all that problems have similar reasons, but I've never found a convincing explanation about that problem.

No, computer button is not a simply mechanical to connect the conductor for electricity. It goes through the mobo in a signal/controller fashion. But I do not know the how the signalling works in detail. Sorry about that. Maybe someone with more knowledge on that area can help.

I had a similar problem. My asus laptop powered off and wouldn't power back on. I took to a computer repair shop and the next morning they powered it up just fine. Spend $130 for rush job and diagostics. I have since learned that my HTC EVO Sprint phone USB cord was not functioning properly when connected to my ASUS, and caused the ASUS to drop power. The fix is - get a new cord. But I was able to restore power by removing and replacing it the battery.

@kije We have also experiencing problems regarding asus motherboards and laptop here in the Philippines my relative & other friends have the same problem with yours, sadly our Department of Industry doesn't know that fact. PC suppliers here doesn't care to customers,

because "if it is proven mother board defect" it will be replaced by a new one
after finishing our one year warranty its done... bye-bye computer/laptop
warranty does not cover it up anymore.

This is how business work in here.. good thing to the suppliers because they are being payed for the repair and purchased.

Bottom line now you know the brand, even if it branded and commercialize

lesson learned:
1. (don't asked Specialist because clearly they only want to have sales)
2. Ask other consumers before buying, consumers will be the proof of what you will buy
3. Give yourself time in making decision, not trust anyone business sometimes dirty even presentable specialist are in front of you.

Seems all laptops habe a similar issue. I am currently having the same problem with my Asus laptop. I was offered a return but then it started working properly again for a few weeks. I have found it more problematic ehenever my windows 10 tries to do an update. I wont be able to turn my laptop on for about 3 days!!! I'm still undecided if i should return the unit after reading all these comments as it wont be deemed broken. Just a quirk of laptop ownership
