So I managed to pick up these two laptops at what I believe were good prices. I did not open them yet however as one of the stores states that they will not take returns if the computer has been opened. So here I am, asking for some opinions on which laptop seems like a better deal and which one has overall better quality before I open one of them up. The specs are below.
ASUS S56CA-WH31 15.6-Inch Ultrabook - $450
Intel Core i3-3217U 1.8 GHz
4 GB DDR3
500 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive, 24 GB Solid-State Drive
15.6-Inch Screen, Intel GMA HDDVD drive
5 pounds with battery
21mm thick
HP Pavilion 14-b010us Sleekbook - $325
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i3-2377M 1.5GHz 3MB L3 Cache Processor
4GB DDR3 SDRAM Memory, Expandable to 8GB500GB
5400RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
14.0-inch diagonal HD BrightView LED-backlit display (1366 x 768)
No DVD drive
4 pounds with battery
21mm thick
I am mostly a desktop user and only use my laptop a couple times a week for watching videos, emails, Microsoft Office, and web browsing. Which laptop has the better screen, keyboard, and touchpad? These three things are very important to me.
Also, which ever machine I get, I plan to upgrade the ram to 8gb and add a 128GB SSD to replace the mechanical HD. I already have bought 8GB of Kingston Hyper X ram and am still deciding on which SSD to buy. Any suggestions on a brand/model for that as well?
