Hi all, My 2019 surface pro has finally reached retirement time, and I wanted to get a new laptop.

I work as an electrical research engineer/ PhD student in the future. I would like to use this as a work from home device if I am sick, or at conferences etc. So a battery life that is longer than 6 hours is great. I had an ideal budget of about 600 euros, but could be up to 800.

Key apps I use:
Kicad/altium, Python, C programming, Segger embedded, Solidworks, CST antennas, Matlab, VPN for remote desktopping

Apps I would like to have the option to use in the future for my hobbies:
Video editing apps, photoshop, music editing apps

I purchased a Snapdragon core Asus for 800 euros two days ago based on a recommendation from an employee, but as soon as I collected it from the store I got told by another employee that the snapdragon has compatibility issues with adobe apps, and possibly VPNS.

I found another ASUS that is actually even cheaper at 640 euros, and I was wondering if this would be good enough for the apps i mentioned above?

What is your opinion on these two laptops? Why is the snapdragon so much more expensive? I do not use adobe apps for the moment but I imagine I would like to use it in a year or two. Which laptop would be better for python programming, basic AI machine learning, and pcb creation.

Thank you
