I've been looking for a new laptop for a budget of around £500, mainly to be used for browsing/word processing/video streaming and entertainment. For this price these are the two laptops I've narrowed it down to:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-X555UJ-15-6-Inch-Laptop-Notebook/dp/B015OG3MMW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1461710013&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+x555uj

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Notebook-i5-6200U-Integrated-Graphics/dp/B016B90WR4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1461710027&sr=8-2&keywords=acer+aspire+e5

What is everyone's opinion? If anyone has anymore suggestions or a better deal that suits my needs, then please share!

Thanks for any replies in advance! :)

Okay 1st let me state I'm not a Notebook guy I'm a desktop guy. Notebooks are too easy to loose or have stolen IMO.

Okay looking at them they have the same CPU, the same Ram, and 1 TB hard drive.

The Acer's 1TB hdd has a 8GB ssd cache on it for faster loading of programs & data.

The Asus has the 920m Nvidia Graphics chip for better video performance.

They should both load you office programs fine, the Acer will load them faster if you use them a lot because of the nand cache. Any graphics intensive programs or games will run better on the Asus, since a discrete graphics chip is usually better than integrated video. So it comes down to what will you use it for the most.

Personally I consider the Asus a higher tier notebook...

Instead of the 8gb ssd the acer has, i'd go asus anyway. Beside of the gpu comment (wich is one of the reasons, by the way), all asus products are tough, durable, better quality and materials, support... The other components are almost equal, and you'll have a much better performance with nvidia, than inte graphics. So, it worth that extra pounds..

Thanks for all the responses!

I was thinking the ASUS before I made this post, I just wanted to see everyone's opinion, and I think you've made my mind up. I'm assuming the dedicated graphics card on the ASUS will make for a better time watching videos and streaming movies?

Also if anyone has any suggestions on a better deal for £500 please let me know, it might be better than the ASUS! Thanks
