Asus X555LJ Ram Detection Problem

I have an new Asus X555LJ with 4 GB inbuilt ram.

I tried upgrading the RAM by throwing in a single DIMM of TwinMOS 8 GB 1600 Mhz.

But when i booted and checked System properties in My Computer, it didnt show the 8 GB ram upgrade. Instead it only displayed 4 GB usable.
My requirement is to play GTA 5 without any lag or studdering.

If anyone could help me urgently I would be thankful.

Is your OS 64bit?

Yes Windows 8.1 64-bit

Hey!

I've got an Asus X555LD with 4GB built in ram too. I have had the same problem guys, tried to upgrade with 4GB more ram. I bougth an 1600 MHz, DDR3 ram. Turned out, that the built in ram operates on 1,35 V, and the ram i wanted to use was 1,5 V. Today a bought an 1600 Mhz, DDR3L ram, which is 1,35 V, and it works. Previously I tried at least 4, 1,5 V rams, but none of them worked.
So if you have similar laptop as mine, you should buy ram, which operates on 1,35 V.
