Hello everybody :)

I've bought a new laptop Asus x750 (originally came with Free DOS) which is supported for Windows 8/64bit only and there is no drivers for any other OS!?!!

Asus x750jb specifications:
http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/X750JB/#specifications

Due to incompatibility with W8 I am forced to change OS to Windows 7/64bit. The motherboard (ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. system model X750JB 1.0) is obviously created for Windows 8/64bit, or I am wrong here?
Will I be able to run Windows 7/64bit on this laptop after all?

I've contacted Asus support but no help from their side at all. They keep saying the drivers for Win7 are not published.
On the other hand, I've found Asus® X750 Series Windows® Recovery Disk and Driver Disk for Windows 7/64bit to buy. Is this a joke or what?

Please help me here I really don't know what to do..

So let me get this straight(I don't quite understand your problem), you bought that laptop. It came with FreeDOS ( http://www.freedos.org/ ) and Windows 8, which contains drivers for windows 8. However, Windows 8 isn't working so you intend to downgrade to Windows 7, which does not have driver support. Is this correct?

Yes, it came with Free DOS and driver disk for Windows 8 only.
I had copy of Windows 8 which I've installed on my own to see how it will work. Not impressed.

So it isn't as if you can't use Windows 8 but that you would prefer Windows 7. Well that's good news for you because, assuming the drivers AREN'T apps(the tiles you click on at the start screen), they should work in Windows 7 given the framework.

Yes Windows 8 are working just fine.
But, I am definitely not impressed with W8 and I really don't need apps and extra features. Plus some of the programs I have to use, are not working at all (not even with compatibility mode)! Took me whole day to enable network 3.5. and that supposed to be "just one click.

More or less, yeah, but what about motherboard "which is made for windows 8"?

I have driver list. I can post it here if you would like to take a look.

Honestly, the "Made for Windows 8" stamp just means that they said, "What will our consumers use?" Since the answer was Windows 8, they made sure the motherboard was compatible. I highly doubt they spent precious hours making their motherboards proprietary to Windows 8 so that performance was better. The fact that you used FreeDOS with it pretty much verifies that belief. I would definitely like to see the driver list just to make sure they will work, but if you already have an install disk for Windows 7 you won't lose anything by trying it.

I see what you mean and it brings hope to me.

I will definitely try with W7, just would like to know more what I'm getting into :)
Thank you Matthew for your support!

Looking at the drivers, it seems as though most of them are made to be compatible given that the names contain previous operating systems. You should have no problem.

Hi I've installed Windows 7 on my laptop and so far everything is working smooth. I had some issues with motherboard driver.
Surprisingly graphics drivers were no problem at all (internal graphic driver needs to be installed first)
And Thank you for your support.

Hi Dr No,

I have recently bought an Asus X750JB-TY002D. I saw in one of the posts you made that you have managed to install Windows 7 on it and made it run. I am really struggling with the motherboard drivers. The USB Universal Host Controller is not being recognized so i cannot use my usb ports to full extend ( i don't even know if the USB 3.0 is working) and the driver for the card reader is not working as well.

Can you please tell me where you have found the motherboard drivers for your model?

Thanks.
