Hi chums. I'm new here and signed up to ask this question. Please only reply if you really know your stuff.

I looked at an Asus Xenbook 13.3" yesterday. Spec as follows:

Windows 10
Intel® Core™ i7-7500U Processor
RAM: 8 GB / Storage: 512 GB SSD
Quad HD display

What I noticed is that it doesn't have a dedicated graphics card.

My question is, does this really matter?

I'm not majorly concerned about the time the laptop takes to boot up, what I don't want is to have to wait 5 minutes to render a selection or an external filter such as Nic or Noise Ninja.

Long and short - is it likely to do the job, or do I really need to look at a dedicated graphics card Nvidia 2 GB, etc?

Huge thanks in advance to anyone who can clarify this for me.

edit: the size is also a major factor as I need something really transportable, so anything larger isn't relevant.

I was initially interested in the Zenbook 430ux cause it was small and had 940mx graphics. But I went for the Lenovo, the all metal build and glass ips screen make it look and feel like a $2000 macbook. And it's got mx150 gpu which is 35%idh better than 940mx

I'm sure it'd do the job but I'm sure there are more suitable options. What's your budget? I have this laptop (https://www3.lenovo.com/ca/en/laptops/ideapad/ideapad-700-series/Lenovo-IdeaPad-720S-14IKB/p/88IP70S0833) I paid about $900 on sale and it's got 8th gen i7-8550u (4core/8threads) and mx150 gpu (2gb, roughly 35% more power than 940mx). It's also very portable due to small bezel display it's a 12.5" chassis with a 14" screen. And I get like 8-9 hours of use on a charge. The build quality is pretty awesome too, the perfect "windows macbook" imo.

Hmm that does look decent although I've always had a (perhaps unfair) disregard for Lenovo as being kind of 'toy'. The spec seems better all round. I love the Zenbook though. But it might be the look of it it I'm really liking rather than it's performance.
