Hi I bought a new ASUS zenbok UX305 and sound works fine with speaker plugged in but once removed it doesn't automatically switch back to laptop sound no matter what I do. Only thing that resets it is to plug in headphones and remove.

Also the sound is very low on the laptop in general.

Lastly in order to turn sound down or brightness I have to press FUNCTION plus the relevant key. Why can't I just press the key itself - how do I set this up.

thanks in advance

Hi,

First regarding the sound of your laptop here's what you can do that may help.
- Uninstall/reinstall the sound card driver first from Device Manager.
- Once uninstalled from Device Manager reboot your laptop and it should reinstall automatically.
- If it will not installed download and install the sound card driver from Asus Support site.
- Here's the link: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/DriversForWin8.1/Audio/Audio_Conexant_Win81_64_VER86600.zip
- Once installed test it again.

About your function keys, here's a thread that may be helpful.
