Audio from TV not loud enough

we have a Toshiba - 43" flat screen TV - but want to connect JBL speakers to it. The audio is very faint from the audio jack. What else do I need to do to get the audio to play in sync from the TV? I do have spare HDMI ports available.

which jbl speakers? are they passive (no power plug) or active (with power plug)?

it sounds like you are trying to connect passive speakers to the headphone jack on the tv - this will not work as there is not enough power to drive speakers. you would need an amplifier.

do report back here on which is your scenario just to be sure as i'm assuming here.

When I connect my iPhone to the speakers they work great. Just when connect to the Toshiba the audio is very faint. The speakers are powered. Toshiba TV.

the creature computer speakers are self powered so its not the above. i'm assuming you have the power hooked up to them correctly.

you have turned up the volume knob on the speaker set correct? have you tested with another input device to make sure the speakers are working correctly?

Yes power is connected correctly - as I said the iPhone when connected plays well. Just the TV audio out does not have volume.

via the headphone jack on the tv or other? if headphone do you have a volume control available on the tv?

i know what might work (a cheap headphone amplifier) but there should be no need for that.

Yes - volume control is on the TV and I can increase it but nothing happens. Yes - it's an odd problem.
