I’m trying to have a speaker and a headset setup for my pc, console, and tv, and I’m wondering how I can do this effeciently and cost effectively - meaning not buying 3 headsets, etc. the console and tv setup are seperate from my pc setup, but close by. The goal is to be able to use a headset on pc console and tv, as well as speakers on the 3 platforms as well. My tv has optical, as does my xbox and pc

Solution
You can get an optical audio input selector so choosing the source isn't hard.

or

Then you would need to convert optical to analog and connect that to both the powered speakers and a headphone amp. If you can't set all your sources to PCM stereo then you will need a DAC that accepts a 5.1 input.
