Have Epson 2100 projector with 3.5 audio out and a Sony reciever and was wondering how to set up sound digital optical cable goes to tv and was wondering if a 3.5 to rca cable would work if I plug into projector and then the audio in of reciever

Solution
If the receiver has HDMI then you want your sources to go to the receiver and the receiver HDMI output to the projector and the TV. You might need an HDMI distribution amp if the Sony doesn't have 2 HDMI outputs.
If the Sony receiver doesn't have HDMI but has a digital audio input you don't want to use the analog audio output of the projector. Get an HDMI input selector with two outputs and audio extraction. Connect your sources to it with HDMI. The HDMI out goes to the projectorand TV. Connect the optical audio out goes to the receiver. If you use the TV tuner or smart apps then connect the TV optical audio output to the receiver.
If the receiver is analog only then you could take the audio from the projector. It would be the lowest...
