Hi,

I have added a new POP3 email account, I', using PPC 2003. I want to be
able to automatically poll for new messages. As yet, I haven't found any
way to do this.

Is this possible, does anybody know how to do it?

Many thanks

Alistair.

check www.appliedlogiceng.com.

They have an application called HD Mail Page that allows
you to configure the PPC to automatically check any number
of email accounts on a time schedule, then notify you when
email has arrived in several different ways (i.e. sound,
screen prompt, etc.).

Works over any type of connection (wired or wireless
ethernet) and can even work over a cellular network with a
cell phone (by automatically initiating the
dialing/connection sequence).

I use this program all the time...great time saver.

Hope this helps -- Chuck

When setting your email account, go to page 4/4 and then press the Options
button that is over the Finish button. It will open a new set of advanced
feature setting pages. On Page 1/3 you have the checkbox "Connect and check
for messages every XX minutes".

Worked a treat, thanks for all your help. My problem was not helped that I
was looking for the account settings whilst my iPAQ was docked. It was only
after I took it out of the cradle that I found the extra settings.

I am using this InBox feature so my6 PPC checks selected e-mail accounts on
a regular basis. Unfortunately, after the scheduled checking, the connection
is not dropped and thus eats up my battery fairly quickly. Is there a
setting to have the connection dropped after checking e-mail? Even an
activity timeout would probably work.

Thanks,

Chris

This is very strange. In my iMate Phone Edition the GPRS connection is
dropped automatically. I did not need to do any special setting for that.

How are you connecting, do you have a Phone Edition or what kind of
connection that is?

hanks for the response. I have the i-Mate XDA II Pocket PC Phone Edition.
I have found if I leave the device long enough, it eventually disconnects,
but it is somewhere between 5 & 10 minutes before it disconnects the
T-Mobile Internet connection. While this may not seem like a lot, it
definitely adds up in battery life over the course of a day.

Thanks,

Chris
