I believe the best thing would be to let the repair process finish. What happens after more than one hour? Do you get some sort of an error message?
If this does not work, my suggestion would be to try to retrieve the data stored on the drive, as the drive could be failing. You will need to use some data recovery tool for DOS mode, as your system will not boot. You can try the Ubuntu Live CD approach out:

You will need a CD or a flash drive, so you can boot from it.
What happens when you try to run start up repair with the flash drive? Have you adjusted your BIOS boot options? (flash drive should be boot option # 1)
