Avast and Malwarebites okay for HT/Gaming pc?

I'm building a gaming/home theater rig. Most of what I'll be doing is playing games and streaming movies, music, etc. Will Avast Free and Malwarebytes cover my needs? How often should I scan?

Yep they will do fine ... once a week ... same for defrag, once a month for cleandisk.

I ve been doing almost the same having avast free installed and I have never had any problems.
Another option would be MS Security essentials which "tells" you when to scan your pc.
