I am not surprised, the realism in the movie is quite remarkable. I could truly feel what the characters were feeling. Its probably one of the most fully realized depictions of another world.
Its been a couple weeks since I've seen the movie and I still can't stop telling people about it, encouraging them to experience it themselves. I can definitely see why people want to live that experience gain. I tell people it is reminiscent of Star Wars, that in addition to, or maybe in spite of the amazing visuals it is the characters and the story that draw you in.

Anyone not able to cope with not being in a movie and are contemplating suicide should seek help and not blame Avatar for their own screwed-up-ness. If they want to live like the navi, get off the damn internet and go live in a tree. Awesome movie by the way, but stupid people piss me off.

[citation][nom]MiamiU[/nom]I don't see the difference between this and religious people that believe in bible fairy tales. It's just human nature for some to seek refuge in stories or superstitions.[/citation]

Ahh... natural selection at work!.. I mean come on... are people really this pathetic? Before you know it the pharmas will come out with the Pandora pill to help people cope with their "symptoms". Don't get me wrong... I thought it was an amazing movie and experience... it brought out my inner child and kinda reminded me of how I felt when I saw Star Wars for the first time. I'm not sad it's over cause I know it will be out on DVD/BR soon enough. ;) I am sad that I will need to completely upgrade my HDTV to view 3D :p

I haven't seen the movie, but I wonder if the 3D accentuate the effect on people since you might feel "more immersed"? This would be a hard slap on all the companies that invested in this 3D hype ... *Evil grin*.

I find the extreme viewer reactions to the film to be interesting. Since it is a fantasy film I have a hard time understanding why some viewer reactions are so intense.

gotta love how these people "want a more nature-harmonic world" yet they use computers and the internet to post their nonsense, shouldn't they be drawing their messages in sand or something?

Not to say that to be at peace with nature is a bad thing, but holy smacks! that would be one tough transition...

As best you can, describe what "hell" is and then tell me if you don't sound like an Avatar fan romancing a fictitious story. From the tone in your post seems you're just an angry person.

I saw Avatar a few weeks ago and it was a good flick. Unfortunately it was hampered by 2 nerds sitting behind me. Every little nuance of the movie they chuckled, cried, oooh'd, giggled, made slightly louder than whisper commentary, clapped, etc. I cringed not because of the noise but I had that embarrassed feeling for them. Then as I was leaving out into the theater lobby, I could hear the two talking about how the moview was so great it was like taking heroine. They said it loud enough for people to over hear them. My girlfriends comment... virgins. LOL. That was the best way to sum up these two guys. No girlfriends and no tail. I have a feeling these guys are very depressed and suicidal... Virgins. LOL.

The movie was visually quite good, but am I the only one who felt that the plot was a complete rip-off of dances with wolves???

Honestly, while it was put together quite nicely, I didn't see anything all that original about this movie.

I don't think anybody believing in "Bible fairy tales" are superstitious at all. I think it's much more odd for people to adopt a modern CGI movie as their religious doctrine. Shows they are seeking a foundation they have yet to establish with good old religious conviction.

I think it's great though that a movie is good enough to really make people think about life. To want something better, so few movies do that these days. Often movies are the opposite and actually destroy everything we believe in and what, for a few good laughs?

I haven't seen the movie. I'll have to pick it up on video or something. :) I was going to go to see it with someone but that didn't pan out. :(

I thought the movie was just OK, not that good. I don't know if it is just me but 3d still doesn't impress me as being anything special
