Hello,

I have a JVC Everio GZ-HM50BU that I recently purchased from Woot.com... I was on a budget. Anyway I was wondering if there was any possible way for me to hack it and replace the AVCHDlite, 720p format to the full 1080p AVCHD format. I've looked on JVC's website, and some of their other cameras seem to use the exact same lens, so I was wondering if it was just software that I had to change. But, for all I know the sensor just doesn't record at 1080p.

Thanks in advance,

Alex

From what I have read the playback device (DVD/Blu-Ray) should upconvert the video to 1080p. Some say it is useless to try to do it (see links below) with software but others say there are programs such as http://www.redgiantsoftware.com/products/all/magic-bullet-instant-hd/ which will enable to upconvert the footage. There is a trial version of Magic Bullet Instant HD 1.2 available on that site.
