AVGUI.EXE keep on running

Good day to the community
My notebook w/ win7 64bit is slowing. From the task manager, I found out avgui.exe is running continuously consuming 40-50% CPU. I tried to end the process but I got the message "The operation cannot be completed. Access is denied". Please advice.

Well that's AVG and that's a virus scanner, maybe it's scanning?

Give it a while and it will stop.

Or uninstall AVG and get something else.

What free antivirus do you suggest? It's running for a few days already. Usually it runs for 2-3 hours only.

How long have you been using AVG as antivirus. Stragely enough that it could consume up to 50% of your physical memory. The best way to find out what is happening is to try to uninstall AVG and try other free antiviruses like avast or avira which are lighter ones and see if your PC still slows down.

I uninstall AVG and installed Avast. Back to normal. Thanks.
