Solved! Battery indicator starts flashing 15 minutes after being connected to the charger

I have a Compaq Evo N1015v that when i try to charge starts flashing the battery indicator. It doesn't start flashing right away, only about 15 or so minutes after glowing continuously as normal. This is an old laptop and i am just wondering if the battery is toast (most likely) or if there is something that can be done. I tried holding down the power button for 15 seconds and other suggested procedures, but nothing seems to have worked so far. There isn't any specific battery driver available for it either seemingly. Just for context, the computer powers off right away if unplugged, the battery doesn't charge. Any suggestions are appreciated.

If it is turning off as soon as you unplug it and not charging at all, you need a new battery.
