Recently, I have decided to build a gaming pc. I had originally picked a 4gb EVGA NVidia 770 card, but the 400 dollar price tag was too much. What would be the best $300 dollar card? I play FPS games (CoD, Battlefield etc.) and I need to find the best 300 dollar card. I don't care if it is AMD or Nvidia. I am planning on maxing out these games or at least playing them on high detail. I will be getting a monitor running on 1920x1080. I am wishing to get at least 60fps.

That's an obscene price do a 770.... $320 is more appropriate .... Is that a hard $300 linit or a "Ballpark ? The MSI 280x is $310 and the N Gaming series is $320.

The MSI N Gaming series is factory overclocked at 1137, much faster than the old Twin Frozr design and is just about the fastest ya gonna find and it's $80 cheaper.

The tweaked MSI 280x ($310) is just 1% slower in techpowerups testing than the stock 770. The MSI N gaming series ($320) at 1137 MHz is about 12% faster than the stock GTX 770.

I take the MSI as I see the performance advantage easily worth the $10

I am trying to ball park it. Will the MSI R9 280X be able to max out games like Battle Field 4 and CoD Ghosts? Also, on Newegg, it seems that the MSI R9 280X is very problematic. People were mentioning that it was leaking oil and breaking down. On top of that, is the fan too nimble, because on the image it looks like it could break very easily

I would go for the 770, it has around the same performance ( slightly better when it comes to raw gaming, than the 280x). it will also run cooler, quieter, and cost less to power ( long term, the 280x is much more expensive)

It should be able to max them out, but it isnt very futureproof due to its massive heat and above average performance, so i wouldnt see it maxing out games in about a year without seeing sub 30fps.
