So I'm looking to get into programming, and python seems to be a simpler place to start.

I'm trying to decide between several books on Amazon.

This one:
http://www.amazon.com/Python-Programming-Edit-Introduction-ProgrammingSeries/dp/1590282418/ref=zg_bs_285856_3/178-7236656-1055346

Many seem to say the book is good, but that it teaches you some bad habits.

Or this one?

http://www.amazon.com/Learning-Python-Edition-Mark-Lutz/dp/1449355730/ref=zg_bs_285856_1/178-7236656-1055346

This looks great, but it's pricier. It's also 1600 pages long, so that may be something to look into as far as having a large amount of information in front of you. But many say it's repetitive/tedious, and at 1600 pages, I wouldn't doubt it.

Then there's this one. It claims to be targeted at absolute beginners.

http://www.amazon.com/Python-Programming-Absolute-Beginner-Edition/dp/1435455002/ref=zg_bs_285856_8/178-7236656-1055346

Some say this is good, but at Chapter 9, you get a bunch of stuff thrown at you, with no explanation, or, something...

I'm not even SO hung up on price. I'm just looking for something that will help a noob like myself get started with as little difficulty as possible. For you champion Python programmers, what references did you use to get started? I find most videos on Youtube, etc, to be... I dunno, I just lose focus. I think it's be better to have text in front of me... I know that ultimately, it's my decision, but I just wanna' have something in my hands that works, ya' know?
