Hi, I'm 25 and a comedian. I'm looking to start filming some comedy sketches for my club, and I want to buy in a good quality camera for a reasonable price.

I'm looking for something that's good quality, that'll make decent quality footage.

But, as I'm just beginning, I don't want to go too big, or spend too much on a brand new top of the range camera.

I've done some film work, but am fairly new to actually using the camera.

I've heard good things about the Canon 60D, which I can get on ebay second hand, but have heard nothing about any other brands.

Any advice?

Get something like the Canon HF 60 (~$250-300), it'll be easier to set up than a DSLR and let you focus on the content rather than technical aspects.

Really? I was told to stay away from camcorders.
I'm looking at the 60d for about 500 dollars now, so if i could get better or similar for cheaper, that'd be great. I'd be struggling to afford that, but if needs be I could do it
