Hey everyone,

I am currently looking for a relatively cheap laptop (ideally as close to £200 as possible but i understand we may need to spend more). This is to be used by a new employee for basic business tasks (emails, basic web browsing, word processing etc). Apart from the occasional youtube video it won't be used for anything intensive (eg gaming/design programs etc).

I just wanted to see what you guys would recommend for this kind of price point (without going too budget!) Ideally we'd like a 15"6 screen. The following 2 look like pretty good deals (albeit slightly more than we wanted to spend):

For a cheaper one (apart from the missing disc drive) this looks pretty good:

I would love to hear peoples opinions on the above and also whether or not there are others you would recommend (ideally closer to the £200 mark).

Thanks very much,

Dave

Thanks tech-wreck, sorry i should have specified that it has to be Windows OS. The Windows Lenovo is very cheap, looking on ebuyer i also saw:

http://www.ebuyer.com/721255-acer-aspire-e5-571-laptop-nx-ml8ek-031

Which is £250 so £50 more expensive but seems like a better spec given the processor? Do you think there will be much difference? And are Lenovo's good, i've never used one (had a lot of Acers over the years though!)

Thanks very much,

Dave

honestly, i'm not sure how it compares to the celeron laptop i suggested earlier, but it is virtually identical to the acer that velo3100 linked to above, just a bit cheaper.

as for brands, i'm sure most laptops are rebadged generic units made on the same production line and it's only the software and customer service that set them apart.

unless someone more knowledgeable comes along to say otherwise, that £250 acer should fit your needs well enough.
