Best Chrome extension to download Youtube videos?

Bare functionality is good too, I just need to be able to download videos (so not just sound. Whether there is sound or not doesn't matter as long as there is video) and possibily have a bit of choice in format (lmp4 and wav would be ideal).
I've found flvto as a website but it opens up a bunch of creepy ads whenever I click without adblock (I do use adblock, but just because I don't see the Russian wives ads doesn't make the site any safer) so I don't trust using it nor downloading the desktop app.

I heard it installs a lot of shitty toolbars and such. I know to avoid installing that kind of crap that comes with some software, but isn't there any safer solution? I'd be willing to take a online-only converter too. Hell, a youtubetomp3 for mp4/videos would be aperfect.

I think I'll settle on youtube-dl, which seems perfectly secure being open source and all. Still thanks for the inputs!

If you get in from CNET or any third party source yeah. Try downloading from the real siete first before you say that.
