Best headset for gaming?

I am looking to purchase a new headset for gaming. I was wondering if there is one headset that sticks out compared to the rest? I was looking at Astro a40's but they are pretty expensive. Do you think they would be worth the price? Or should i go with Turtle Beach's? I would like to be able to use this headset for PC and Xbox, if that changes anyone's suggestions. Thanks!
