Best laptop for around $500?

Looking to purchase something for school work, watching tv/movies/anime, and maybe downloading a few games on. From what I've been reading, Asus makes pretty good laptops, but I'm not really sure what model to get. I'd like to spend $520 at the absolute max.

15.6" screen would be good, but I don't know what processor is better (AMD A8 or Intel i3). These are a few I've had my eye on (the K-Series looks sick because of the 6GB RAM and it's under $480 lol):

Has an a8 and a 7670m (pretty good deal). Don't worry about the RAM much 4 GB is plenty, its cheap ($40 to upgrade--which is pretty easy), and single channel RAM (6GB) will hurt igp/gaming performance

bump... really trying to buy something within the next few days.

gaming isn't really that important to me, but i might try out an MMO on it. looking for a laptop good with doing school related stuff, surfing the web, and watching tv shows.

Should work well for you at that price. The Radeon HD 7600G is the highest-class *APU on-die* in that model (I think)

If you search around you might find a discount coupon to save a few more dollars -- you could also check the price against similar models at HP laptops.

it's between the acer and the HP, I guess. i've read stuff that acer's kind of suck, so it makes me lean more towards the HP. what do you think?

The HP is running a low voltage processor, it will be significantly slower than the a8 4600m.

The latest review on it says how to fix it, so I would still go with it. It's the best laptop you can get at that price, much better than the HP.
