Bios update only available for windows 8 + 8.1

Hi forum,

I am using a Lenovo G510 laptop and I recently decided to upgrade from win 7 to win 10. But i would also like to update the bios because I was getting getting some freezes while gaming and many had the same problem but the bios update solved the issue. My issue is that in the Lenovo support website the only bios update that is listed there is for windows 8 and 8.1. I was wondering if i should install windows 8 then update the bios and then install windows 10. Is this how I proceed?

The way I read the documentation is that the bios update is only applicable to windows 8.
It is unlikely to fix your problem.
Worse, a failed bios flash can make it difficult or impossible to recover from.

Likely the cause of your problem is a incorrect graphics driver provided by windows 10.

Download the amd driver and intel drivers directly from Lenovo.

In any event, BIOS should have been updated (that's not to say it's compulsory) when you were still running Windows 8 or 8.1

To revert to Windows 8 now just to get the BIOS updated seems hardly worth all the trouble to me unless you are 100% sure it will fix that particular problem - - - you would risk "bricking" your laptop if the update goes wrong (as it often does when BIOS update is applied through Windows). Not worth the risk.

Thanks for your quick response, I don't mind the trouble of installing other windows just to update BIOS but i wouldn't want to brick my laptop. Do you really believe that trying to update BIOS from a file that is given from Lenovo's website would brick the laptop?

I would think the opposite just because everything is tested before published on the site. I would appreciate if you could share your thoughts. Thank you in advance
