Some elderly people need an easy to use AV that won't cause slowdown. Bitdefender Free, Panda Free, 360 Total Security Essentials. I personally use BD Free, but I told them I would come to the experts. Couldn't find any so you'll have to do. (Joke) ;)

Thanks a lot theunliked for the quick reply. I'v never had any major problems with Avast a while back, but it did make Chrome take a while to open. But every machine is different. Thanks again.

I bought Panda from the hut a couple of days ago. I don't trust it too much though but I wanted to give it a try. But so far malwarebytes anti-malware says all ok - no virus on my laptop. What I like about panda so far is it does not slow down my laptop at all. When I bought it I saved a few quids by using a discount code for the hut http://www.vouchercodegator.co.uk/voucher-discount-code/the-hut/ But if you have Windows 10 I suppose the built in Windows Defender software could suffice as well.
