Hi, I was just looking for opinions on whether or not I should buy a Chromebook. I already own a high end laptop for doing anything I would need. But typing papers with this 10 pound beast gets a little uncomfortable. I'm graduating high school next week so I figure ill need to type a lot of papers in college. Im just wondering if it is worth it to get one? Or if there is even a Microsoft word type of program for Chromebooks. Any ideas???

I fit is just typing papers you are after your best bet would probably be a combo of Ipad plus keyboard attachment. it serves the same function but has the 2 advantages of having a touch screen(for quick diagrams on your notes) and it is also more popular which in turn leads to better support. i may be wrong but I also think the Ipad has a longer battery life.
This is an article about it. It was a good read.

The chromebook is just a browser running on a locked-down version of GNU/Linux.

Get a real computer instead. An ultrabook, such as the ASUS Zenbook.

If I am correct he already has a computer and only wishes for this new addition so that he can be more mobile. An ultrabook is super overkill for that.

You should read the following 2 part review of Chromebook. The 1st link can be skipped since it is just more or less an intro. The 2nd link is more important since it focuses on actually using Chromebook.

Hi, the reason I was looking at the chromebook is that it is only $250. My main use would be on the go browsing and things like that. Ill be attending OSU next year and would like something easy to carry around. And to type papers. The link about using a chromebook was very useful.

Main use browsing ^^

Haha. I don't think you can do much else anyway.

Go and get Microsoft Surface TAB specially the RT with atom processor. That will be a good option.

Windows RT sucks. It's like a ordinary Windows, just locked down. If memory serves...

Then Get an Ipad or a Nexus 7

Nexus 7 is too small to used to type papers even with a keyboard. Good enough for text message and emails, but not papers. Good enough to read ebooks / e-textbooks though.

Nexus 10? Maybe with a keyboard. Maybe...
