What is the model of your laptop and the model of the RAM you're looking at?

What difference it would make depends on what kind of work you do on the laptop. For basic browsing and such 4GB should be enough.

Hello,:hihi:

I assume your laptop model is Dell XPS M1530. It supports upto 8GB of memory. It has 2 slots and max per slot it takes is 4GB. I'm not sure of the memory you are looking at , generally speaking DDR2 memory is costlier than DDR3 and I do not believe that you could 4GB DDR2 memory @ $10. (Provide me a link so that I can believe it myself:kikou:)

Well, if you have a single 4GB ( 1 x 4GB) module installed then you can go with another 4GB 667MHz memory else you can go with two 4GB DDR2-800MHz memory.

You can compatible memory at this link - http://www.memorystock.com/memory/DellXPSM1530.html

Good luck!!:sourire:

No, it isn't compatible. DDR3 is not backward compatible with DDR2 and moreover they are electrically incompatible with each other. I hope that answers your question.
