c610 wont boot

my dell latitude c610 comes on and goes to black screen and says BOOTMGR is compressed press ctrl alt delete to restart and just does the same thing over and over again

You probably have boot problem (although at close to 15 years, your c610 is well beyond its retirement age).
Try to boot from a Windows install CD (for the Windows version on your laptop), and repairing the boot. You can also boot some Linux LiveCD to check the state of your harddrive (and make backups if you do another fresh install).
