It's funny that Red One is at least 10 times cheaper than any other mentioned camera, but only Red's price was mentioned, and it was labeled as "too expensive" :)

Well, it is ten times less expensive for the base unit, when you figure the lenses and extra parts, it starts to add up, still cheaper than 100k.

I wish Canon and Nikon would learn from Red, I want to use any lens on my DSLR.

Innovative companies like RED that can make DSLR's cheaper and use any lens on the Market will give Canon, Nikon and Sony (Minolta) a run for their money.

"...cameras like the Canon EX-1 or EX-3 or Panasonic HVX are great options..."

Sony makes the EX-1 and EX-3. They are phasing out the EX-1 in favor of their updated EX-1R model.

The Red One may be 17,000 dollars, but it is actually cheaper than any camera even remotely equivalent to it. Look at some of Sony's pro HD cameras, they can go for more then 70,000 dollars.

The Sony HDC-1500's price was mentioned: "nearly $100,000."
