Can a 4G LTE tablet be a suitable replacement for a phone?

First, I want to point out I don't even have a phone right now, as I don't think it justifies the cost and I don't even like to talk to most people, aside from one and maybe sometimes two.

However, there's an 8" 4G LTE tablet set to release soon, which I was considering getting anyway for other reasons. So, if I got a relatively small amount of 4G service, could that functionally replace a phone for my limited use? Keep in mind, I'm not the kind of person who checks a phone on a bus or in stores or whatnot, so the size isn't really a factor.

I really don't know much at all about anything related to phones, which is why I'm asking.

Well, it can do everything a smart phone can apart from making calls. And obviously its much bigger. So if thats what you want, it will serve your purpose.
