I want to be able to use my Western Digital Portable 500 gb hdd with my rooted (stock rom) samsung galaxy 2 7.0 tablet. I believe I need to get a female to female usb type "a" adapter? The usb hdd gets its power from the usb cable connection, not external power. Will this work if I buy any female to female usb adapter? Or is there a special one you would recommend?

Thank you,

Does the Tab 2 7.0 have a full sized USB on it? If so then yes. I have my Asus Eee Pad slider with a full sized USB and it connects jut fine. If its NTFS though you may want to get the Paragon NTFS&HFS+ app. Not sure if you have to buy it or not. But it will manager your mounted devices and allow you to better read and write to NTFS drives. Not sure if it cost anything. think it was a few bucks.

But from what I'm looking at you need to get the OTG cable for it. It connects to the bottm where the USB cable/Charger goes and then breaks out into a USB port like so.
