I have a Samsung Smart TV that will not allow me to plug in a regular set of headphones so I was told to purchase SADES A6 USB PC Gaming Headset 7.1 Surround Sound Stereo Gaming Headphones which I did. But, all the instructions are in Japanese and I don't know if I can use them to just listen to the TV without playing games.

Whomever gave you that advise should be fired. It's meant to work with PC. The Samsung will not output sound from any of the USB ports. Which Samsung do you have. The 2016 ones have built-in Bluetooth and that's your easiest way to connecting a pair of Headphone. If it before 2016 then you'll need to get something like this to get stereo sound:
