So I have a Dell Inspiron 15 and its screen resoluion is 1366x768. I'm thinking of buying a 1080p monitor for Christmas to hook up to my laptop through HDMI and I want the monitor to be 1080p while the laptop is 1366x768. I'm pretty sure my laptop can't output 1080p, but if I put 1366x768 on the 1080p monitor will it look distorted?

Thanks

Yep, that's correct. At home I run 1080p on my laptop monitor and 1440p on my external monitor.

It depends on the video card which I am pretty sure, given it's a Dell Inspiron 15, will support a 1080p monitor with no issues.

Any video card worth it's weight in salt will support at least 1080p.

It's Intel Graphics and you're saying I can have two different resolutions on two different monitors on one computer (laptop), right?
