I have a lenovo legion y920 laptop. I am new to understanding building so i was wondering if i could upgrade to the gtx 1080 without any problems. Here are the specs

Gpu: Gtx 1070 8Gb
Motherboard:Intel core i7-7820HK
Cpu: Lenovo LNVNB161216
Memory: 48gb ram

generally laptop parts other than ram/storage are not upgradable. nothing I saw about the laptop would lead me to believe that yours is different.

laptops GPU's are often soldered to the motherboard, even if they are not, compatibility, power usage, and heat could all be issues. If lenovo doesn't say that its upgradable, I would say its not.

Generally laptops are not upgradeable with the exception of RAM, HDD/SSD. Some allow a CPU upgrade and very few allow a GPU upgrade.

Yours is stuck at a 1070 as hang-the-9 stated.
