Can I sell my RTV4080?

I got a RTV4080 through the original beta program but never ended up
using it much because I have an older Replay and I don't have ethernet
in my den. The unit still works fine but doesn't have a valid
subscription, so it can't get the programming info. If I sell it, can
someone get subscription for it?

Thanks

All 40xx have a lifetime subscription. The 45xx need a subscription.

Julian said that it does NOT have a valid subscription, thus you are
incorrect in this case. It may be that the subscription had been
transferred (they are doing that like crazy now), or that it did not
have a real sub since it was a beta unit.

My bets are that as long as it functions, DNNA will gladly accept
someone's money if they try to activate that unit.

The 40xx units never required activation. The lifetime sub was built in
since they didn't even offer unbundled subs.

I know what you're saying, but he said it was a "beta" unit AND he said
that it did not have a valid subscription. Being a beta unit could mean
that it did not come with the lifetime sub? But more importantly, just
because the 40xx's came with a lifetime sub, doesn't mean that it still
HAS a lifetime sub. They are swapping out liftime activation from units
that have been reported as "broken" recently.

As far as anyone can tell, he has done that. The OP said that it
doesn't have a valid subscription. It's Bruce that seems to think
that it does, eventhough the OP said that it does not.

The OP simply wants to know if it's okay to sell the unit, and if the
buyer can actually activate it. Since it's a Beta unit, I think
that's a fair question. Maybe the beta units were never meant for
subscription service? I dunno, maybe the OP doesn't know either, and
that's why he's asking?

At the risk of seeming obvious, why doesn't the OP try to connect using
the unit he wishes to sell. If it works OK, then it has the sub, it not,
then it doesn't.

Thanks for all your replies. I have indeed tried like crazy to connect
recently and it fails. Maybe I should call Replay directly.

Unless you've been able to transfer the subscription to another unit you
should call for help because the 40xx did come with a lifetime sub even
it was a beta. At the time, Sonic Blue offered nothing else but a
lifetime subscription included with the purchase price.
Assuming you have a broadband connection, how have you tried setting it
up? The 40xx does not have a dial up capability so it has to plugged
into a router or directly into the cable/dsl modem.
