i bought an adapter that converts RCA cables (red, white and yellow cables) to vga and i was wondering instead of connecting to a separate monitor can i connect it to my laptop? i have 1 vga port also i have a c55t-a5222 toshiba laptop i wanted to play my ps3 on a monitor just wondering if i can use my laptop instead

The laptop is video out(it not an output). You'd need to get video capture hardware to get the video into your laptop to view it on the laptop screen.

Even with capture board, the delay taken to digitize the signal and show it on the laptop screen will make your gameplay awful - been there, tried that.
You might try the adapter you bought on standard PC monitor with VGA input.

Edit: You know that VGA carries video only, don't you? So, that adapter you got - how you connected red/white/yellow to it? What is the adapter model?
