Can my Samsung Blu-Ray player play PC content on my Samsung TV?

Samsung Series 5300 plasma TV; not a smart TV. Samsung BD-H5900 Blu-Ray player with HDMI connection to TV and wireless connection to my network. My manual seems to indicate the Blu-Ray can play content from the PC on my TV if properly setup (All Share software?), but Samsung chat says no. Is wireless connection to PC through the Blu-Ray possible? Thanks.

You're referring to screen mirroring? No. I mean, what content? Games? Try the Nvidia shield. Youtube? Yes. Your Blu-Ray player takes over for your TV being the "smart" one. Open Opera Apps and watch videos. Surfing the web? No. You'll probably want a PC stick if you intend to use your tv like that. Renting movies or watching Netflix/Hulu, you might be able to do that with your Blu-Ray, if not, the most economical option is a Chromecast. You don't need the 4k one, so you save money there.

You newbies seem to try anything but to consult the manual, where it exactly details what you can do. I took a quick peek, 2 minutes and it told me you can play media via its USB port, and also run DLNA (if unclear of this term please wiki it) from a DLNA server somewhere in your LAN. Of course there are all sort of limitations, get real familiar with the manual.

Yes, ideally I do mean screen mirroring I guess. The point would be to watch on the TV video that is playing on my PC, or from the TV scroll thru pictures stored on my PC. So your answer is no. I do have a solution I'm told will work - connecting my PC to my TV with HDMI cable and controlling the PC with a remote keyboard. Not as clean as wireless, but better than nothing I guess. Thanks.

Well, yes, that was always an option. Use your TV as a monitor and buy a wireless keyboard with a Touchpad. You would want the Logitech Touch K400

First, yes I'm a newbie - a rank, ignorant newbie with minimal computer technology intelligence - which is why I looked for help on Toms Hardware.
Second, why yes I read the manual before I posted, but because I'm a newbie and stupid I found it very difficult to understand.
Third, I first contacted Samsung chat, who informed me that the manual was wrong or no longer applicable in some cases, and that NO I couldn't connect wirelessly. Not being confident in their answer, I turned to Tom's.
Fourth, I knew I could connect by cable and use a wireless keyboard because a previous very helpful, patient and polite responder on Tom's had described to me how to do it. But I had not told him about my blu-ray, and had not broached the idea of wireless because of my ignorance.

You can't use your BD-player to mirror your PC' screen, as simple as that.

However, with All-Share (or other DLNA software, even Windows' own), you can watch movies stored on your PC thru BD onto TV, using WiFi connection.
