Can my TV support surround sound audio somehow?

Hi everyone, I was hoping someone here could help me out.

I've got an LG 50LN5400 TV, and I'm looking at getting a sound bar for it. Is there any way it can support surround instead of stereo? Considering it only has RCA and headphone outs. No optical or coaxial. It has 2 HDMI ports but it doesn't seem like they have ARC.

If I connected a Blu-ray player and Xbox for example, to a soundbar via hdmi in, and hdmi out from the sound bar to my TV's HDMI in, would that work?
Alternatively, would I need an AVR or something? A bit confused with all the sound alternatives out there.. :??:

Thanks for any help you can provide :)

Not many soundbars support multiple HDMI inputs. If you can afford it, the best bet is a AVR reciever. Then you can plug in all your things HDMI into it, strip the sound from the signal and pass the video to the TV.

Oh ok I see, well for now I think I'll settle for just using stereo, but thanks a lot for the help!
One last question, what would I use from the AVR to the TV? HDMI out of AVR to HDMI in on TV?

Yes. The AVR would have an HDMI out that would go into the TV.
