Solved! Can speak through headphones but not microphone

I recently built a PC and bought the Corsair HS50 Stereo Gaming Headset - Carbon, but the detachable mic doesn't work, i have to speak into the headphone part (the part that the sound comes out of) for my friends to hear me.

I really need a solution quick

sometimes its the cabling problem are forcing the headphone jack all the way in and the microphone make sure its fitted in in! and if your PC put headphones sometime you need a splitter cable to fix it

If your headset has a the earphones and mic wired in to a single jackplug, but your PC has separate earphone & mic jacks, your going to need an adapter like this:

A splitter came with the headset and it isnt the cabling in the pc because it doesnt work with the ports on the back of my PC (the motherboard ones) either.

I have used the splitter that came with the headset and it didn't work, I also don't think it is the cabling because it doesn't work with the motherboard ports at the back either.

So I just uninstalled the audio drivers and tried fiddling around with the cables, messed around with the splitter and it fixed.
