Can you set up a dvd player through a comcast box

I am trying to connect my dvd player to my cable box without taking the tv off the wall. Can I do it through a Dvr device?

Cable boxes don't have external inputs. A DVR should have external inputs so that would work. If you get a Bluray you will probably need to get an HDMI switcher so maybe it would be best to do it now.
