Canon 24mm 1.4L i (old version)

I have bought a 24-105 ($600 CAD)
I have an offer for a 24mm 1.4L i, the older model for my 24-105 +$100.
I'm not sure if the price is right or should I be looking into buying the newer Mark II version if I were to specialize in portraiture?
Wondering if the price is a steal or is that how much they cost now?

24mm is awful short for portrait work even with an APS sensor. A 50mm 1.4 with an APS sensor would make more sense.

so I would be looking at a 85mm for a ff more likely yeah?

I also love landscapes and i travel a lot so does this 24 mark 1 do the job for the price, or is it too high and old?

I have no idea on price/value. That is a personal choice.

A fixed 24mm is less useful than a 24-105 when traveling. Having to switch lenses and carry more gear is usually not the best choice.
