If I'm taking pictures for publications (website, print, etc), is it better to use an actual camera (Canon EFS 18-55mm) or my iphone7 (model A1660) camera, or is there no difference? I've been told that the resolution on an iphone is not good enough resolution for publication purposes, but I'm wondering if that's actually the case, and how I can compare/contrast the resolution between the two cameras.

Always a real camera, IMO. The capabilities offered by a real camera: optical zoom, RAW capture, multiple lenses, etc are much better than any phone.
