I have a toshiba satellite C50-A569 which came with windows 8.1 pre-installed. I tried to install windows 7 but it simply won't boot from the dvd, I've change the boot priority, made odd and usb before hdd and ssd, disabled secure booting, tried booting from a dvd a usb stick. I even tried booting acronis disk manager but all in vain. I'm sure that my windows and acronis copies are working fine as I have used them on other computers.
thanks in advance.

After disabling secure boot I was able to change boot mode from UEFI to legacy and also I changed sata from AHCI to comptability and the laptop just booted from the dvd. thanks to all those who tried to answer.

You don't need to change the AHCI setting (usually it's best if you leave it), but you did right in disabling UEFI and Secure Boot. You lose out on GPT disks with this whole process, but most end-users don't need more than 4 partitions anyway.
