I have recently purchased a new headset (Logitech G230) without realizing that it had a double jack, so i went and looked up a solution for it and found a splitter (i hope it's the correct term).

Bought one and arrived today, was okay till i tried it, the sound is working but my microphone still isn't.
My laptop has only 1 jack port with the audio/microphone symbol on it.

I have an Asus S500C, can anyone help me?

This is the Splitter i bought http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221862234546?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Hi,

The splitter should actually work just fine, you may just need to change some settings.
- Right click on the speaker icon and select Recording Devices.
- On the next screen and if you see your Microphone listed, right click on it and select Set Defaults.
- Click Apply and OK then test it again.
- Next to try if these will not work is to uninstall/reinstall the Sound card driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Sound card driver.
- Once uninstalled, download and install the latest driver.
- Here's the link: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/DriversForWin8/Audio/Audio_Via_Win7_64_Win8_64_VER60110200.zip?_ga=1.65034156.305422646.1455979617
- Reboot the laptop once the latest driver has been installed
